After careful consideration of Next Gen Program applications received the Ontario Curling Council’s High Performance Team have determined the following teams will be in the 2018-2019 Provincial Next Gen Program. Please note, there were a lack of applicants for Tier 1 programs, so the High Performance Team opted to offer the positions to a Men’s team and a Women’s team. For the 2017-2018 Season, the Ontario Curling Council has gained entry as a Tier 3 Sport into the prestigious Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative (OHPSI) offered by the Canadian Sport Institute of Ontario (CSIO). As a result of programming support through the OHPSI, the OCC is expanding our successful Next Gen Program to include Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles teams, this program will be referred to as the Next Gen Elite Program. After an incredibly successful 2016-2017 season by Next Gen Program athletes, the OCC made the decision to expand the Next Gen Program for the 2017-2018 season. A total of four men’s teams and four women’s teams will be serviced through the program. Applications are now being accepted for OCC’s most popular development program – the U18/U21 Next Gen Program. We have expanded the program where the top male and top female team applying to the U18/U21 Program will move into the Next Gen Elite Program which will be delivered in partnership with the Canadian Sport Institute of Ontario.
